I know how the previous duping exploit worked, but I didn't at the time it was being abused. I used similar methods to abuse the hell out of 20man and 14man parties using heroes last year though. I know that when Anet 'fixed' the 14 hero bug, we were still doing it for a while, just differently, because their fix didn't really work. For some reason it fixed 20 heroes though. But eventually they perma fixed the exploit. So my bet is that they thought they 'fixed' the previous exploit, but people found a way around it, like we did. Only difference is, we weren't generating thousands of sapphires/rubies at a time.

I don't really care anymore though, I barely log on, and I 'lost' all my money already anyway.

I was referring to this duping sham. I know exactly how the last one was done. Note how they mention "customized" materials without any screenshots. It's a ploy to drive prices back down because the event is over.

Prices are already down on saps and rubies though and that is strange timing.

Until we see SS proof all we can say is that something very fishy was going on. If it is indeed dupping then it seems to have been fixed because there was a small update and ruby/sapphire prices are going back up.

One thing not being taken into consideration too is that I believe the drop rates on rubies and sapphires may have been adjusted recently to try and push things along a little - my guild mates and I are seeing a significant increase in sapphire drops in our MTSC runs over the past month...it's not unusual to see a sapphire drop for someone in every run. Higher drop rates = more drops = lower prices.

IF there's any truth to the rumor about a z-key farming exploit, that could account for the sudden liquidation of rubies/sapphires/ectos. It would make alot of sense to be buying up z-keys on the cheap while that's going on and then reselling them at a higher price once A-Net solves that problem.

If these are customized though, isn't that a limitation unless you're tricking stupid people into taking the customized items? Or are these not behaving like normal customized items and they can actually be sold at traders or used by other players instead of being 0 gold unsellables?

you can use them as normal ones,for armours,crafting,sell at merchant etc

and btw the duped pets are not customized

Given the circumstances with people having 50+ stacks I assume they do not behave like regular custo'd items. Besides these are not equipable items, customized items can still be traded and sold to merchants.

That's not surprising since they removed the ability to customize minipets long ago. The code to customize them probably doesn't even exist anymore or was modified to not allow it.
